• By bus...Colchester Bus Station is located on the East side of Colchester off Queen Street. From the High Street turn right down Queen Street opposite Colchester Castle (on the corner is Colchester Tourist Information Centre), then turn next left into the bus station. Once every hour the number 76 First Bus (Colchester to Clacton via Essex University) leaves from here. The journey time is about 30 minutes. There is a request stop just as you leave the village of Elmstead Market, from this point you should be able to see our Brown Tourist sign. Carefully cross the road (it is a very busy area and on a bend) and the Gardens are at the end of our drive about a ¼ of a mile walk..

• By train...Colchester has two train stations Colchester and Colchester Town. The Colchester Town station is in the centre of town and near to the bus station, Colchester (sometimes referred to as Colchester North Station) is over a mile north of the town centre and would require another bus to reach the town centre but does have a taxi rank just outside if you would prefer to continue your journey by car. Regular trains to Colchester station run from London Liverpool Street, Ipswich, Clacton on Sea and Norwich. Trains to Colchester Town are less frequent and may require you to change at Colchester. Journey time to Colchester Town from London Liverpool Street is approximately 90 minutes.

• By taxi...there is a taxi rank outside Colchester train station (please note not outside Colchester Town station) and one on Colchester High Street. Local taxi companies’ include-
