A perennial form of the common quaking grass with flower heads that are a mass of tiny nodding lockets, purple tinted at first later becoming straw coloured. Lovely in wildflower meadows and native throughout much of the UK. Makes a great cut flowers. If need be cut back old flower stems and some foliage in late summer, to encourage fresh growth ready for winter.
