Attractive, dark foliage emerges in early spring and the plant soon races up above head height as the foliage settles down to a more glaucous green. A haze of dusky lavender-pink flowers tower in late spring, opening to reveal their starry, attractive creamy-yellow stamens. One of the tallest thalictrums available, which may need support if grown in part shade but seems study enough in an open sunny position. A hybrid of the yellow-flowered T. flavum var. glaucum and pink-flowered T. rochebrunianum.
