A clump-forming perennial with erect stems of lance-shaped mid-green leaves, white-woolly beneath. Dense clusters of yellow flower heads surrounded by white bracts. Summer though to autumn. Found across North America, growing in dry meadows, stony plains and even sand dunes. A full sun and poor soil position will slow its spreading nature.
