Betonica

Betonica is a relatively new genus, which was part of (and may return to) Stachys. All of the plants we currently sell, were previously sold as Stachys. The betonys seem to have more effect from their normally pink or white flowers, rather than the foliage effect from lamb's ears. B. officinalis is native across England and Wales.

As with most members of the mint family, the tubular, two-lipped flowers are designed to restrict access to the nectar by specific groups/sizes of pollinators. Those of the betonies attract primarily honeybees and small bumblebees.
