Gertrude Jekyll showed us how to plant this among bergenias where its thin, shiny black stems topped with frothy sprays of tiny, white, pink-flushed daisies are supported, adding a change of texture and colour in late summer. This is one of the first michaelmas type daisies to flower, sometimes late summer, flowering through autumn. They can illuminate a shady corner with their masses of white flowers. Synonym Aster divaricatus.
