Gertrude Jekyll showed us how to plant this among bergenias where its thin, shiny black stems topped with frothy sprays of tiny, white, pink-flushed daisies are supported, adding a change of texture and colour in late summer. This is one of the first michaelmas type daisies to flower, sometimes late summer, flowering through autumn. They can illuminate a shady corner with their masses of white flowers. Synonym Aster divaricatus. Although around 60cm is its potential height, we find it tends to lean and gently drift through other plants, to around 30-40cm tall.
