Leucanthemum

Robust, easily grown perennials, often with dark green foliage and bright white, daisy-like flowers. Plenty of hybrids increase the choice of flower size, including various double forms. The popular shasta daisy, Leucanthemum x superbum, first created in the 19th century, includes our native ox-eye daisy, L. vulgare

As with all 'daisy-like' flowers, the disc-flowers in the centre of the large flowerhead produce nectar and pollen that are attractive to insects, especially bees. However, doubled forms have lower provision, as at least some of the disc-flowers have been mutated into ray-flowers, often wholly sterile. The leaves and flowers are palatable for example to moth and picture-winged fly larvae respectively.
