An unusual evergreen perennial for a shady spot. Derived from the Wynn-Jones collection, B&SWJ4992, which was collected from the Kinki district of Honshu, Japan. The hairy, crinkly foliage matures to various shades red, purple to almost black. In spring, red stems carry tiny red flowers. If given reliable moisture, it should thrive.
