Details

Arching strap-shaped leaves make spidery clusters against soil, a feature all year round and remarkable because they are black. In summer, short sprays of tiny mauve bells appear, maturing as shiny black berries which last well into winter. Creeps slowly in well drained but retentive soil, in sun or part shade. Seen here with Narcissus cyclamineus. Snowdrops also are a great contrast. Previously known as Ophiopogon planiscapus 'Nigrescens'.
