Weigela

Deciduous shrubs, with simple leaves, sometimes coloured. Funnel-shaped flowers in spring and early summer, pink, white, yellow, with interesting markings inside the flowers. Reminiscent of foxglove flowers. Good shrubs to provide rounded structure in a garden border.

The broad, tubular flowers of Weigela species are a valued, summer-long source of nectar and pollen for bumblebees and other bees, while the leaves are eaten by a number of generalist garden moths.
