If you struggle to grow the dainty, alpine gentians, then this an easier option. During the summer, whorls of starry yellow flowers, (similar in effect to Asphodeline lutea) erupt from within clasping, pleated, glaucous leaves, which bear a resemblance to veratrums. Found growing on European mountainsides, so some extra moisture when growing would be appreciated. The yellow gentian has been cultivated medicinally in Europe and used to flavour liqueurs!
