The Garden Media Guild Awards 2022

The glitzy lunch is held at the Savoy

This year, we were able to celebrate the GMG awards in style at a glitzy lunch at the Savoy. Because of covid restrictions, the awards have been held via zoom for the past 2 years, so it was lovely to be able to get together in person.

The Garden Media Guild Awards celebrate the best of horticultural communications, recognising the talent, skill and inspiration of garden media professionals. Individuals and organisations from across the industry put forward their best work, which is judged by their peers and experts in the field. The awards are open to everyone in the garden media, not just GMG members.

The Education Trust proudly sponsors the Beth Chatto Environmental Journalist of the Year Award. The five finalist for the awards were:

Arit Anderson for Growing Greener podcast.
Rebecca Searle for Monocultures, Kitchen Garden Magazine.
Kim Stoddart for The Guardian
Karen Murphy for ‘The Natural Gardener’, Garden News
Jack Wallington for feature on water resilience in BBC Gardener’s World magazine.

This years winner is Kim Stoddart

Judges' Comments

"This was an encouraging and uplifting piece that touched on many aspects of gardening and the environment. Easy to read and beautifully illustrated, it has the potential to reach a wide audience and change the way people think about their gardens, giving them the confidence to experiment with gardening in a different way and trying again if something doesn’t work out."

Huge congratulations to Kim and to all the winners and finalists.
