Creeping rhizomes carry tufts of soft leaves with broad white margins centred by a narrow green strip, giving the effect of a white carpet in spring, and again when new growth appears in autumn. Although invasive, it is easily dislodged. Succeeds in shade or open borders, in light or heavy soil.
