Inula hookeri

Spreading clumps send up leafy stems topped with very attractive furry buds like little birds nests. Each bud seemingly individually designed and arranged. They themselves are worth growing the plant for. They open to yellow, very fine-rayed daisies in late summer. In a drier soil, it will spread less quickly and flower at a lower height. An underrated plant. Adored by butterflies and pictured here with a gatekeeper.
