Sempervivum...Houseleeks

Perfect plants for troughs, pots or crevices in a rock garden. A single rosette, will produce offsets in following years, eventually making undulating spreading masses. The individual rosettes will eventually produce a star-like flower, on a sturdy stem. En-masse flowering is a quite a sight. Each individual plant is monocarpic, so after flowering it dies off, but any gaps are quickly filled by new offsets. Many of our plants for sale are propagated from Beth's long term collection. Colours of individual forms can vary considerably at various points in the year.

Houseleeks are among the toughest of plants, being drought-, heat- and frost-tolerant; their flowers are attractive to all manner of pollinators, bumblebees, honeybees and hoverflies to butterflies, inviting nature into the most stressful spots, including 'green roofs'.
