Tradescantia

Spiderwort. Undemanding and easy to grow perennial which will survive most situations sun or shade, moist or dry. Ideally a soil with some moisture will keep the plant looking at its best. All produce leafy clumps of succulent stems on the end of which are tight clusters of three-petalled, individually short lived flowers, yet with a long flowering season on mass. They do tend to flop about a bit and are probably best cut back when this becomes an issue. This also helps prevent self-seeding.

Honeybees and bumblebees are attracted to the flowers of Tradescantia, and thought to be the main pollinators.
