Onoclea sensibilis

Another fern for waterside, or beneath trees where soil never becomes dry. Arching, broadly segmented fronds are freshly produced throughout summer from a running rootstock, so making attractive ground cover, or edging to a pond, beautiful with water iris and golden creeping jenny (Lysimachia nummularia 'Aurea'). Over winter the darkened fertile fronds can be left for interest.
