Abelia
Summer to autumn flowering deciduous shrubs or small trees, native to SE Asia. They thrive in sunny warm spots and provide interest well into the autumn, as many species have colourful calyces, which hold their form and colour, after the flowers gave dropped.
All species are rich in nectar and pollen, and are especially attractive to bees.
