Danae

Related to the native butcher's-broom, the tiny (but perfectly formed) flowers of Danae are (we assume) insect-pollinated, probably by small flies. The berries that result are food for birds such as blackbirds once ripe, and the evergreen clumps of stems provide shelter for garden invertebrates, including beneficial predators such as ladybirds.
