This is a selected garden variety, ideal for moist edges. Narrow branched spikes of densely set, rose flowers with blue anthers produce a mauve-pink effect. I like the narrow, stiffly upright silhouettes, which continue until winter as buff seed heads. Carpets of broadly spreading foliage make useful ground-cover.
