Asphodelus albus

Seen everywhere around the Mediterranean on dry, stony soils. From fleshy roots it produces a huddle of long narrow leaves above which stand tall, smooth, strong branching stems topped with spires of long narrow buds which open in early summer to starry-white flowers, warmed by a soft brown vein running down the centre of each petal.
