One of the most elegant dry loving grasses. Above neat clumps of thin grassy leaves appear long, silken, silvery-green awns which wave and shimmer in the slightest breeze. As they mature they dry and curl into a pale feathery bundle. Each seed is attached to one of the long curling stems which helps to wind the seed into the soil. For full sun and well-drained soil, in an isolated position above low carpeting plants, i.e. thymes.
