From the Middle East, growing on rocky slopes, in scrub and the edge of cornfields. Stout stems, are clothed half way up with twisting grey-green leaves while the top half carries a spire of dusky purple bells.
Potted bulbs are sent from October onwards (once rooted), each pot containing one large flowering size bulb.
