On the 1st and 2nd of September, we held our second symposium- 'Rewilding the Mind' at the University of Essex. The two-day event brought together horticulturists, garden designers, conservationists, landscape architects, developers, planners, academia & local authority interdisciplinary teams, to discuss the meaning, purpose and best practice of ecological and sustainable planting for the 21st century.

On Friday 18th February, the UK was hit with strong winds from Storm Eunice, bringing gusts of 80mph to this part of the country. Due to the forecasted high winds, the Gardens, Plant Nursery, Tearoom and Garden Shop were closed to visitors and staff.
On Monday 14th February, we celebrated the reopening of the Gardens, Plant Nursery, Garden Shop and refurbished Tearoom by inviting Friends of Beth Chatto’s to an exclusive members day. Garden and Nursery Director David Ward spent the day in the Woodland Garden giving snowdrop tours and answering any questions.
The ‘Design for the Environment’ Award is for UK or international residential, commercial, or public project of any size focused on environmental contribution and sustainability and is the only award open to members and non-members.
